Word of Life

Word of Life

1 John 1:1-10

The first in a series of three epistles written by John. We’re not told who the original intended recipients of the first letter were. The author is the disciple and apostle John.

John was one of the three in Jesus’ closest circle (Peter, James & John). He was allowed to go with Jesus to the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17:1-3. He is self proclaimed as the one Jesus loved in John 13:23. John was the first disciple to reach the empty tomb on Easter morning John 20:4. John was the one Jesus spoke to as he hung on the cross John 19:27. Jesus called John and his brother James, the sons of thunder. John is the one that penned the words in John 21:25 that read: 25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.  Continue reading

The Bottom Line

The Bottom Line

Scripture- Exodus 1-4

The biblical truths of God, we all want to know. Because if we know these things and we have them locked in, we’re cruising with our feet on the pegs.

Does God know & love me? Does God see me? Does God hear me? Does God have a plan for my life which He can guide by His hand?

A beautiful picture of God’s individual love and care for His people. This morning we will read biblical facts showing God’s personal involvement in the life of the believer. His people. The church. Read these scriptures and allow the truth about God to pierce your heart. To change the way you see him. Let Him in. For God’s sake, let Him in. Continue reading

The Early Church

The Early Church

9/18/2011

For me personally this is the most powerful message God has ever spoken to my heart. I can’t explain that. I don’t know how far we will get today, let’s just trust God to lead us.

You know? God’s plan for his church is that we would come together and worship him. Study his word, and that one would preach the word.

Are you ready? Continue reading

Church, have we lost our sense of awe?

Church, have we lost our sense of awe?

Message: Mark 1:21- 45

21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

Background: Capernaum was a fishing village on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, population of about 1,500. It was home to a garrison of Roman soldiers. A synagogue was to be established wherever there were as many as ten Jewish men. Luke 4:16-21 is the best biblical passage on what happened in a synagogue. The Sabbath started Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Continue reading

A moment of truth for Peter

Message: Matthew 16:13-25

As an intro to the main focus which is verses (21-25) let’s understand 13-17: 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” Continue reading

Seeking Godly Counsel

Psalm 1: 1-3 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Previous teachings:

  1. That we would pray and not give up.
  2. That we would pray and not lose heart

Don’t you love the way Jesus teaches? How he speaks to the heart? All he wants is for us to love him, and to let that relationship feed everything else. The scripture he put on my heart for today teaches us about prayer and about the way we should approach God in prayer. It teaches us that he sees our heart and knows our thoughts, and that it really does matter to God when you come to him that you’re heart, Continue reading

Praise To God for a Living Hope

1 Peter 1-9: 1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. Praise to God for a Living Hope 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
